A Free Crochet Pattern
I designed this pattern to be a quick and fun project that that was something different than what I usually make. The Crochet Snowflake Earrings can be made in an hour or less, making them perfect as a last minute gift.
I used Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light for these because it is fingering weight, and it was what I had on hand, but I think these would look great in crochet thread, as well. I plan on making a pair in crochet thread as soon as I get some and I will update the post with pictures.
For this pattern, you will need fish hook earring wires and a jump ring. My jump rings were 5mm, I believe, but you could use a different size, if you prefer.
d – 3.25 mm hook
Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Soot, or 30 yards fingering weight yarn
5 mm jump rings
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sl st= slip stitch
Gauge: Guage is not important for this pattern
Measurements: 2 inches from top point to bottom point
Additional Notes: This pattern is worked in the round and joined with slip stitches. I recommend blocking, to help correct any shaping issues.
Pattern: (make 2)
Rnd. 1: Ch. 1, sc 6 times in center of ring. Sl st to first sc.
Rnd. 2: Ch. 5, hdc in same st (counts as hdc and ch 3). (Hdc, Ch 3, hdc)in each remaining sc. Slst to 2nd Ch.
Rnd. 3: Ch 1. Slst in next hdc.* (slst, ch3,slst, ch5,slst,ch3,slst) in ch-3,slst next 2 hdc*. Repeat from * to * around. Fasten off, once you have reached the last hdc. Block the snowflakes according to your own preference. With pliers, open your jump ring, and connect one to one of the points. Connect to the fish hook wire, then use pliers to close.
