Morana Throw Pillow

Free Crochet Pattern

This pattern is featured in the Winter Wonders Blog Hop, hosted by Itchin’ For Some Stitchin’, Han Jan Crochet and Ned And Mimi. The event is sponsored by We Crochet. On December 2nd you can download a free pdf copy of this pattern. Click the buttons below to be taken to the main blog hop post.

I love designing granny squares because they are quick and it is fun experimenting with different stitches. The Morana Throw Pillow is essentially two giant granny squares seamed together. This is my first attempt at making a pillow and I definitely want to give it another try at some point.

But, I really love the way these colors paired together. The yarn I chose for the Morana Throw Pillow is We Crochet Swish Worsted. It is so soft and I can’t wait to use this yarn again. I think it would be perfect for a sweater because it isn’t scratchy at all, like some wool can be and it comes in a great selection of colors.

Finishing

Place both squares together.  Using CC, attach to both pieces at any corner. Ch 1. Make 3 sc in the corner. Sc across both pieces in each chain and stitch, continuing to place 3 sc in each corner. When you have joined 3 sides, insert the pillow form. Then, continue to sc across the last side. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

Block square with preferred method.
